[Anime] Shingeki no Kyojin

Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of titans.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a colossal titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller titans flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single titan and take revenge for all of mankind.

^LOL That gif is too funny!! I can see why you think this is a weird / funny anime if gifs like that one are all you see on facebook / tumblr. But Shion, I can guarantee this to you in Nezumi's name that ONCE you sit down in front of your screen and watch the first episode, you'll see that SnK is much more of a serious anime than a comedy one. And you'll be hooked. For real, by its animation, storyline, and BGM. Sigh.

So I'm interested, what did you think of the ending of ep 5? My friends who don't read the manga were freaking out about it XD I saw some reaction videos on YT and they all were hilarious too.

@Shion: That's the one! xD When the little girl asked her mother what it was, I was like "OH NO. IT'S A TITAN COMING" and then THAT THING came barreling round the corner doing it's funky run and knocking the guy away and I was just like "ROFLMAO". XD But it's just a few instances of small comedy moments, the anime itself is SERIOUS STUFF. And it's dark.

Woah! That's really awesome! I know there's a lot of viewers and discussions going on in a lot of communities every week but I didn't know it's popularity was THAT high! Definitely the AOTS for me just now, unless Gargantia has something epic up it's sleeve in the remaining half of it's episodes.

Aimo, yes I meant that scene XD that pretty much was my same reaction when I read that chapter for the first time too. 'THAT CAN'T BE HAPPENING ;__;'. I thought he will give one of his speeches and get out of there in no time haha
But yeah, that scene was really amazing. Hopefully the next episode will get this same treatment from the staff because the part it should cover from the manga is really great.

And IKR? I was so shocked he didn't! I was literally screaming at the end of Ep5 when I saw the preview was going to be a flashback and not about the current state of events. Still, it was a pretty nice episode which showed why Mikasa cared so much about Eren. And that scarf moment was just soooo sweet! ;__; <3 Since when did Eren become so cool? xD

I decided to give this anime a go, after finding out that Kamiya is going to voice as one of the character.

Episode one is pretty good, with how they show how the humans are after 100 years of peaceful life.
I think I must be pretty weird for thinking how strong the titan's teeth is when the human is getting eaten because even the bones are eaten.
Some of the soundtrack gives me TRC feel and I kind of like it.

Yes, Armin is like the brains of the gang. He comes up with great plans later on.

hmm the next episode should cover chapter 7. So, if we go in the order of the chapters from here on out, then Levi should show up again in chapter 11... so 4 or 5 more episodes. I really suck at this so I'm sorry if my speculation is completely off

The manga is great but the anime is great too. I'd advice people to read the manga only after the anime is finished or if the anime changed some things in the story. But so far it's doing good.

btw, I read the manga up until latest coz I was afraid the anime would deviate from the manga in some places ya know (coz that happens a lot) and I wanted to know the canon main story first before watching.
