Please read - For all new applicants
All applicants whose application form does not follow the rules will be ignored. This is not long, please read it as it contains all the information required for each role you can apply for.
Blue = Not needed.
Green = Not needed but applications WILL be considered.
Red = Currently needed.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT. But we do prefer those who have had experience. For cleaners/typesetters and quality checkers, confidence and skill in Photoshop is always a good welcoming factor. Providing us samples of your work would be useful.
Raw provider: (not needed as we already have an excellent provider)
-Scans the Japanese manga. Preferably at 600dpi or higher. The better the source quality, the better it looks at the end. There's only so much you can clean.
Japanese translator:
-Should be relatively fluent in reading Japanese. (ie. not have to look up a dictionary for every word)
-Should try to phrase words as close to the original Japanese meaning as possible. Does not always have to be grammatically correct.
Chinese translator:
-Should be relatively fluent in reading Chinese. (ie. not have to look up dictionary for every word)
-Should try to phrase words as cose to the original Chinese meaning as possibe. Does not always have to be grammatically correct.
-Raws/links to raws will be provided if you can't find any yourself.
Proofreader:
-Should check translator's translation for any incorrectly translated words by using the raws.
-Should be very fluent in English.
-Be able to rephrase grammatically incorrect sentences, correct spelling mistakes and correct punctuation.
-Basically the job is to take the script given by the translator and turn it into a script that makes perfect sense in English for the reader while trying to retain the translation to the original meaning as close as possible.
Cleaner:
-Must have Photoshop. We work with .psds.
-Should know how to rotate, crop, level scans, get rid of dirt/dust/noise.
-Should also know how to redraw & use the clone stamp or healing brush tool (needed for 2 page spreads)
-Basically the job is to make the raws you are given look as clean and neat as possible.
TEST CHAPTER FOR CLEANERS: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Typesetter:
-Must have Photoshop. We work with .psds.
-Should have a good variety of fonts for SFX. (We can try and provide you with one if you don't have it but try and get your own - variety and originality is good.)
-Fit the text into the bubbles as neat as possible. Centre-aligned and not too close to the edges.
Editor:
-Should be able to do both jobs of cleaners and typesetters. HOWEVER you may select which you wish to work as for each chapter. So you can choose to only clean a certain chapter or typeset a certain chapter providing it has not yet been claimed.
Editor's must also take the cleaner's test.
Quality Checker:
-Be fluent in English. (to check that the final text typesetted actually makes sense)
-Be able to clean well. (anything missed by the cleaner is YOUR job. Yes even redrawing.)
-Have a good sense of presentation. (make sure text looks neat)
-Must have experience. Although if you are confident enough of your abilities, I can give you a test chapter as experience.
TEST CHAPTER FOR Q/Cers: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Please follow the instructions carefully.

Quality checker/chinese translator.
Hi,
I just looked you guys up because I noticed y’all are putting up the latest Karneval scans! I’m completely new to this but I love reading Karneval so if you guys need help I’m totally willing to help out! (: I do know some chinese buttttt I wouldn’t be too confident of my translating abilities haha ^^” especially not if it’s traditional chinese. D: I’m fluent in English and pretty good at proofreading to make sure content makes sense. I also have some experience in Photoshop if you need. (: Anyway, do keep posting updates for Karneval! Looking forward to the next chapter!

OMG. YOU ARE AWESOME! We are in desperate need of a proofreader since our current one seems to be quite busy and I'm not that great with proofreading. ;__; If it's okay with you, I'll put you down as a proofreader? Although if you want to take up another role/jobs it's entirely up to you.

For now, that works with me.
If you want to switch to another role later though, that's also fine. ^^ Just whichever is most comfortable for you.

Re: Please read - For all new applicants
Yup. So you'll get your scripts off the Translations forum and once they're proof-read then you post your link in the Proofread Translations forum and the typesetters will use this.

Done! I take it you know what to do? If not that's okay, I'll repeat it here.
You'll get your scripts off the Translations forum. And then once you are done, post it in the Proofread Translations forum. This is where the typesetters will get their script.
Also check out the Read Me section for proofreaders here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It'll come in handy. ^^ And looking forward to working with you!

Thank you. I think I got it though I'm still trying to familiarize myself with it.

We currently have 2 of each so it's up to you. Have you any prior experience in either role?
